Fat Dissolving FAQ

What is Deso fat dissolving injections?

Deso is a state-of-the-art fat dissolving injectable products designed to treat those difficult localised pockets of fat. Areas that can be treated include a ‘double’ chin, the arms, abdomen, love handles, buttocks, knees, thighs & back/ bra ‘rolls’.

Depending on the area treated and the amount of fat involved, several sessions may be required to achieve the desired result. We recommend a minimum of 3 sessions in order to achieve effective results.

In line with similar injectable treatments like Aqualyx®, the active ingredient is Deoxycholic Acid, proven to reduce fat deposits.. The product is conveniently separated into a face and body concentration and side effects are minimal.

In addition, DESO is known to result in much less swelling than Aqualyx® as well as less pain and faster results.

How does it work?

Deoxycholic (Deso) acid normally emulsifies and solubilises dietary fats in the intestine, and when injected subcutaneously, it disrupts and destroys fat cells.

Deso Fat dissolving injections, also known as lipolytic injections, destroy fat cells by damaging the fat cell membrane and liquifying the fat in the treatment area. The destroyed fat cells are then broken down and removed naturally through the body’s lymphatic system.

This makes it the perfect agent to remove stubborn pockets of fat. Like most non-surgical fat reducing procedures, intralipotherapy using DESO FACE and BODY is not intended for the obese body but does target the fat at cell level making it one of the most successful formulas for targeting stubborn fat areas.

What is the difference between Aqualyx and Deso?

Deso is FDA aproved and Aqualyx is not, Deso also achieves results faster with less swelling & discomfort.

What can I expect during my Deso treatment?

Your appointment will start with a consultation, an assessment is necessary to confirm that the area desired for treatment is suitable - this depends on the thickness of the fat. Generalised obesity is also inappropriate for a fat dissolve treatment. This assessment will allow your aesthetician to calculate the amount of product required, the number of sessions, the safest session interval and the final cost of your treatment plan (if you would like to book a course of treatment)

The treatment areas are then marked with a grid guideline for injecting and before photography is taken with your consent.

The sterile product used is drawn up into a small syringe. The skin in the treatment area is cleaned then disinfected and the product is injected with a needle. Multiple injections are required per treatment area. Prior to departing you will receive aftercare instructions for you top adhere to in order to achieve your desired results

How long will my treatment take?

A treatment can take as little as a few minutes to as long as an hour, depending on how many areas you're treating. For example, the chin can take 5 minutes and the stomach area can take up to 20 minutes.

Does Deso hurt?

The procedure causes minimal discomfort and lasts around 20-30 minutes, depending on the area(s) treated.

How many sessions will I need?

We recommend a course of at least 3 – 4 treatment sessions with 4 week intervals. This is dependant on the treatment area and the amount of fat to treat.

Are results permanent?

Yes, the fat cells in the treated areas are destroyed by this treatment. However, this does not stop your body's ability to put on weight.
