Stretch Mark & Scar Camouflage Frequently Asked Questions
HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?
It can take from an hour to 3 hours depending on area treated, can take longer if more than one area is treated.
IS THE TREATMENT SUITABLE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES?
Yes, however it is only suitable for stretch marks & scars lighter than your skin, those with dark stretch marks will have to do our Microneedling treatment instead. It must be healed and no longer pink or changing colour. Your scar/stretch marks should be at least 9 to 12 months old with stable colour. If it’s red/pink or still changing colour the tissue may still be healing
CAN I HAVE THE TREATMENT IF MY SKIN IS ALREADY COLOURED FROM THE SUN OR TANNING LOTIONS?
We recommend that you undergo your treatment when your skin is the colour it is naturally for most of the year. This ensures that we are able to custom blend the pigments used to best match your natural skin tone.
As we use a range of pigment colours in our treatment, you will find that, once healed, the stretch marks stay camouflaged even after tanning lotions are applied. We do not recommend prolonged exposure to the sun without a high protection sunscreen on treated areas to ensure skin stays in optimum health.
CAN I SUNTAN AFTER THE PROCEDURE?
As Stretch Mark Camouflage is a penetrative skin treatment, we advise that you do not expose the treated area to the sun for at least 90 days after the treatment. For best long term results we recommend that you apply a high protection sunscreen to the treated area prior to sun exposure. The treated area will remain the same tone as the pigments that were applied. Therefore if your natural skin was to darken, you would see a slight variance between your natural skin and treated area. However as we blend multiple tones of pigment using our unique blending technique, the variance is minimal and much less noticeable than the colour of the stretch marks previous to the treatment.
HOW WILL I LOOK IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS?
It is normal to experience redness and swelling immediately after the procedure, over the next few days to a week the redness will remain before the pigments settle and your result starts to be revealed
DOES IT HURT?
As Stretch Mark Camouflage is a penetrative skin treatment, a small amount of discomfort will be experienced throughout the procedure.
IS A PATCH TEST REQUIRED?
Yes it is required.
HOW QUICKLY WILL I SEE RESULTS FROM MY PROCEDURE?
After the procedure you may experience some mild irritation such as redness and swelling, which can last up to a week. Then the skin will slightly darken temporarily whilst healing. Once this has subsided, you will begin to see the results of your treatment. Around 60 days after your initial treatment you should have a reliable visible indication of your final result. We advise clients to visit us for their checkup appointment 90 days after their initial treatment, as we would like to check how it had healed and see the results. This check up appointment is approximately 10 minutes and is a complimentary service included in the price of your package. In the rare case that require touch ups, the session is offered at a discounted rate.
Please note that we can not guarentee how much coverage you will get as it all depends on how the ink adheres to you skin and everyone is different
WHAT IS THE COST OF THE PROCEDURE?
The total cost of the treatment varies greatly and is dependant on the area and severity of the stretch marks requiring treatment. We offer our initial “online” mini consultation free of charge, during which the final cost can be determined once the affected area has been examined.
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS OF THE PROCEDURE LAST?
Stretch Mark Camouflage is a penetrative skin treatment with definitive results. Which means that the results last indefinitely, provided that the correct after care procedures are adhered to.
WHAT IS STRETCH MARK CAMOUFLAGE?
The Brazilian Stretch Mark Camouflage treatment is micropigmentation involving the implantation of specially chosen pigment colour into the deeper layers of skin in order to correct the colour of the stretch marks. By matching, mixing and blending specially formulated pigments the appearance of stretch marks are reduced by altering to better resemble the colour of your own skin
This technique is intended to create a pigment illusion in order to make the affected area less noticeable, it can not get rid of stretch marks.
CAN I HAVE THE TREATMENT WHILST PREGNANT OR BREAST-FEEDING?
As the treatment is a penetrative skin treatment we are unable to treat women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. We look forward to treating you once you’ve given birth
WILL I BE ABLE TO SEE RESULTS IMMEDIATELY AFTER?
It is possible, but again it depends on your skin tone, the scar, and the after care. With a darker skin tone with light scars is easier see results of the camouflage than someone with light skin tone and light scars. The full results of a treatment session will take approximately 90 days to show. Also, properly taking care of the treated area will help with seeing better results. Remember, your treatment area will scab up and require healing like any regular tattoo treatment.
IS STRETCH MARK CAMOUFLAGE RIGHT FOR ME?
If you have stretch marks, we can give you a camouflage treatment, however, you may not require the use of micro pigment ink. Some clients have skin tone and stretch marks that are too close in color for micro pigmentation. The stretch marks are only visible due to the scarred skin is slightly lower than the unscarred skin. In this case we would preform a “dry tattooing” or “micro needling” treatment. This involves the same steps as a regular treatment, but without the use of any pigment colors. The skin on the scars will be carefully damaged just enough to induce healing. When fully healed, the scars will no longer be as deep as they were. This will be cause them to be less noticeable.
Stretch mark camouflage and body microneedling two DIFFERENT TREATMENTS which require DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES, MACHINERY & PROCEDURES. Some treatments are more abrasive than others.
